Step 4 - Add Groups

Groups are used to organize analytical model elements such as framing elements, and are crucial in passing design group data to DesignMate in later stages. In this step, we will create 3 design groups that will help us visualize and organize our example structure elements in a logical way as follow:

  1. Click in any cell from the Input Workbook to activate the contextual ribbon
  2. Select 'Groups' from the 'Active Sheet' dropdown menu in the contextual ribbon
  3. Click on 'Add' from the 'Groups' contextual ribbon to add a new group
  4. Notice the contextual ribbon now changed into 'Edit' mode. Now specify a name for the group, and assign a colour from the dropdown menu
  5. Click 'Apply and Add New' from the contextual ribbon
  6. Repeat the process until the last group, then to finish, simply click 'Apply'
