Step 7 - Add End Releases

End releases (spring nodes) may be defined in the project, and assigned to framing elements. This is an important step if you model requires non-fixed end releases, for example pinned elements or torsion-fixed elements. To add a new end release, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the 'End Releases' sheet in the Input Workbook
  2. Notice that two default end-releases already exist in the default GenFEA template
  3. Click on 'Add' to add a new end release if desired (not required for this exercise however)

End releases are identified by name in other sheets, so it would be sensible to name your end releases accordingly.
Some pre-defined end releases are by default present in the Input Workbook template, and when adding new end releases, you may either select from the standard configurations ('Pinned', 'Fixed', 'Torsion') or enter the release values manually for each degree of freedom (X, Y, Z, Xx, Yy, Zz).
