Step 8 - Grid Setup

GenFEA provides modelling tools in 3D space, using the grid as the drawing plane. To model elements on a projection plane, simply rotate the grid as desired, and start modelling or editing elements. To rotate the grid, do the following:

  1. Left click in the model workspace to set the 'Model' static ribbon current (or simply click on the 'Model' ribbon tab
  2. Click on 'Grid Settings'
  3. Set the 'Axis' property to 'X' (default)
  4. Set the 'Angle' property to '90' (default)
  5. Click 'Rotate'

The active modelling plane in 3D space is now set to the grid plane. Remember to 'Reset' the grid from the same context menu later when you have finished working on this plane. 'Reset' will set the active grid plane to default (XY plane) and if it was translated, restore it to 0, 0, 0.
